A La Mode Pies

A La Mode has been a Seattle favorite since 2009, and with their success at the original Phinney Ridge Café they decided it was time to expand. For this new chapter they commissioned Column to enhance their brand identity as part of a comprehensive new brand system—ranging from signage, menus, apparel and a variety of other touchpoints. This brand system was later translated to beautiful packaging that encompassed all of their offerings, from pie to Pies Cream.

Custom Typeface

We used the lettering in the logotype to inspire a custom typeface for the brand. This display family comes in three weights—Light, Book and Bold—each coming with a few unique alternates.


The classic and fun illustration style we developed paired with the light and playful messaging was a perfect fit for adding even more dimension and personality to the brand.

In the highly competitive bike component industry Shimano XTR tops the list. XTR is known for consistently taking the bike arena to a whole new world. While navigating the most unforgiving terrain, riders are assured that when equipped with XTR they will be led to the bottom of the hill with unparalleled performance.

We created a visual system & style guide, global ad campaign and website to showcase this state of mind and the world of XTR. This project was guided by a simple mantra—“Never Second Guess Your First Instinct”—emphasizing that with XTR you can put your faith in your gear and your mind toward the trail.
